Summer Entertaining Made Simple

The official summer party season is upon us! I just love a good family BBQ. Or sipping a chilled glass of sangria - or your favorite libation of choice - outside on the patio. There are so many joys when you combine summer and al fresco dining!

Entertaining is one of my favorite ways to enjoy the warmer weather. Even if your outdoor space isn’t ample or glamorous, take a moment to appreciate how nice it is to have sunshine back in our lives! I love hosting barbecues on the patio and casual dinners in the backyard, and planning the menu is one of my favorite parts.

When I first started entertaining, I was obsessed with getting every detail right and not letting any of my guests lift a finger. But along the way, I’ve learned the importance of loosening up and even discovered a few tips to ensure a festive affair - no matter what surprises might pop up.

Choose true and tried recipes. Plan dishes that you know are crowd pleasers and you can prepare ahead of time.

Display and serve food in these melamine platters and bowls.

Keep it simple. Using a mixed set of dishes and drinkware is a great way to create a casual table setting.

I’m a huge fan of these melamine plates, frost flex cups, acrylic wine tumblers, and salt and pepper shakers.

Embrace offers to help. Most people like to contribute something to make your job as the hostess easier. So if they offer, say yes!

Have guests help carry items outside using these large lucite trays and ice buckets.

Be flexible. Sometimes even the best of plans can go awry. Take, for example, the time the skies decided to open up the day I planned to host an outdoor gathering. But having learned to go with the flow, I cleaned up our screened porch and brought the outside in, with big bouquets of cut flowers.

Create a casual atmosphere and the feeling of eating outdoors with these paper coasters and paper placemats.
