Remember your first grade teacher and her gold stars that made you feel so proud? Or how the school librarian always read the class stories, and did the best animated voices? Or your high school teacher that inspired you to pursue your dreams? I’m sure you have plenty of favorites and now you likely appreciate your children’s favorite teachers.
And with my son reminding me that school is over in a few weeks (that’s not long!), I imagine that, like me, teacher gifts are on your to-do list. But what do teachers really want? It’s a question I’m often asked at Jodi’s Gifts.
So let me offer what I’ve learned over the years:
Teachers like gifts and the sentiment behind them. They’re extremely grateful when parents take the time to think of them and appreciate their hard work.
But considering that teachers have lots of students (every year) it can be difficult to find the perfect gift.
So here's a useful guide of gift ideas:
- A heartfelt note from your child (or parent).

- A personalized sticky memo cube.

- Something they need or really like that has been identified on a teacher wish list.
